****-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas, the dominant local news station in South Texas, is looking for a part-time Production Assistant who will also perform duties in our one-content team workflow. This is an entry-level position that includes early morning, late evening, holiday and weekend shifts. However, it's also a great foot in the door, many people previously working in this position have gone on to be producers, directors, photographers, executive producers and on-air reporters.
The best candidates will be strong writers, show initiative, and be willing to learn several different duties at the TV station to see where they fit in best.
Temporary part-time at $16/hr for first 90-days, promotion to permanent part-time at $20/hr after reaching goals set out in letter of expectations. Responsibilities: - Write accurate, informative stories for both on-air and online with strong viewer value in an exciting, captivating and conversational tone.
- Learn how to curate our website and how to create unique TV newscasts to best highlight the day's most compelling stories.
- As production assistant, make ready studio microphones, lights, monitors, and scripts. Also operate teleprompter, cue anchors and train on other aspects of production and Domingo Live.
- Edit mistake-free videos for use in newscasts
Requirements: - Journalism and/or Mass Communication degree, or in progress, preferred
- Must be dependable, have good communication skills and ability to perform quickly under deadlines
- Flexible availability is necessary as position involves working varying shifts in one-team concept, including weekend, evenings, mornings and holidays
- Long-term interest in broadcast news is a plus
