Producer to own the daily execution of Idaho Today. At

Boise market. About Idaho Today: Hosted by Mellisa Paul, Idaho Today is the state's only lifestyle talk show. From trending topics to the hottest products, Idahoans turns to Idaho Today for a daily dose of what makes living here so unique. It's a lifestyle show that's always fresh, local and u *** edictable. It's where celebrities, top chefs, entertainers, entrepreneurs, authors, local doctors and lifestyle experts come to share their passion through in-depth conversation and demonstration.
In this role, the Producer will bring segments to life in the studio, remote and field environment, driving the editorial of the show through booking guests, researching, writing, making graphics, editing video and more. The Producer has their finger on the pulse of what's trending in everything from entertainment to wellness to local newsmakers. The ideal candidate for this role can successfully merge content with commerce, helping Idaho Today's sponsors showcase their products and services in a way that feels organic and captivates the audience.
This position is salaried with a quarterly bonus opportunity.
Responsibilities: - Use your natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
- Show off your creativity and storytelling skills.
- Craft stories of all lengths on all platforms for specific audiences.
- Meet daily deadlines.
- Combine live pictures, graphics, compelling video and emotional sound to create an engaging experience for our audience.
- Booth continuous coverage on our live streams for breaking news and community events.
- Consistently try new things after thoughtful discussion with supervisors.
- Allow the impactful and emotional conversations the community needs to drive the content in your rundown.
- Use data analytics to help shape the content of your show.
- Challenge traditional ways of doing things.
- Advocate for underrepresented people, communities and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in your show.
- Produce entertaining and informative segments for the show including paid segments.
- Source, contact, and book guests for the show.
- Work with the sales department and with clients to successfully meet their business needs, guiding them toward good content decisions and coach them on best practices for TV.
- Pre-interview guests, research topics/guests and provide Host and staff with research materials.
- Manage multiple calendars and deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include production of other sponsored local specials.
Requirements: - BA/BS degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field or 5 years experience producing a local show
- 2 years of experience line producing newscasts.
- Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must.
- Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair and unique local content, along with community engagement.
- Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
- Strong social *** skills, including an active news hound presence on your preferred social platforms.
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
- ENPS and Edius system experience
- Experience working with Smartsheets preferred but not required
- Basic mobile photography and video editing skills preferred but not required
- Experience producing multi- *** shows, (satellite shots, zooms and in studio.) preferred but not required
