Job Summary/Description:
**** News in Laredo, TX is looking to for a dynamic individual for the position of Assistant News Director for *** . The candidate must have experience performing different newsroom job functions including producing, reporting, editing, and photography.
The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for managing all the daily operations of our *** Laredo operation as well as other general newsroom management duties assigned by the News Director. The Assistant News Director must be bi-lingual which includes being able to read and write in Spanish. In addition to managing *** the Assistant News Director will be responsible for producing one of our daily newscasts, as well as scheduling, planning specials and special reports and helping plan the long-term goals and strategy of the news department. The successful candidate should be able to work closely with producers, reporters, anchors, and photographers on daily news coverage, oversee production of newscasts and special programming and review daily newscasts to ensure quality control and brand compliance.
Candidate must be able to write copy and edit scripts for on-air and digital work with the news director and other managers to establish newsroom goals and work to develop and further the station's news brand.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
- Ability to produce newscasts, video edit, and write copy
- Fully bi-lingual (Span./Eng.) with experience working with bi-lingual newsroom
- Ability to plan and adjust personnel during breaking news
- A passion for social *** /digital
- Great people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivation
- Broad understanding of newsroom operations and equipment
- Four-year degree in journalism or communications preferred
